A small sliver of moon shining brightly against the clear desert sky can be seen in the evening to the west when the moon is waxing or in the early morning to the east when the moon wanes. The beginnings and endings of the lunar cycles are the domains of these slender moons. I find wisdom in the edges of beginning and end, an emotional richness that is sweetly poignant. Seeing the moon as she travels through her monthly journey reminds me to listen carefully to the cycles of thought, feeling, and action that are part of my human nature. Slow wavelengths of experience awaken, expand, and resolve into completions. Songwriting, for me, is a musical expression of these sensory cycles: tactile, congruent stories which journey from start to finish.
